Today I wrote a post on my personal facebook page that said
"Woo Hoo! I just got back from a beautiful hike, weighed myself & I've dropped 20 pounds! From 190-170! I have a ways to go to get back to where I want to be, but I'm committed & I'm feeling GREAT!!!"
My post immediately sparked numerous "likes" and comments ranging from many congratulations, others sharing similar goals, to many questions...
At the end of the day, I felt compelled & inspired to share my story in hopes that perhaps it may inspire someone else in some way...
It's been at least 2-3 weeks since I started the "5 Bite Diet" & I'm proud to say I'm already seeing BIG results!
It all started while I was visiting my dear friend. I noticed she looked BEYOND amazing!!! She was glowing & it was visibly apparent to me that she had lost weight. I told her I thought she looked amazing. She thanked me and told me she lost 35 pounds! We shared our personal struggles with losing weight, and talked about different diets & programs that didn't seem to work...
When I asked how she did it, she asked me a few questions and handed me a book. Giving me the quick rundown, she explained the gist of what the book was about...I was really excited! I had hope!!! She loaned me the book, I took it home & finished it within a few hours!
I'm not going to rewrite what's written in the book, I'm only going to say that if you're serious about losing weight, I highly recommend you read it!
For most of my life, being an athlete and a dancer kept me in the size 2-4 zone. When I reached my late 20's to mid 30's I stayed in the size 6 zone. A few years ago, I had a pregnancy gone wrong which almost killed me, landing me in and out of hospitals for 11 months or so. I must say that I am TRULY grateful and feel BEYOND blessed to have someone like my man Randy Martinez in my life!!! He was there for me in every way! He was the ONLY person who was always there for me, by my side! Very few people reached out to help, many had excuses...I learned very quickly who I can really rely on!!!
The experience left us exhausted mentally, emotionally, financially, spiritually and especially physically!
I'm not one to complain nor do I focus on the dark side of life, but I must admit the last three years has been a constant struggle for us to get "Back On Track" (Like my song says)! It's also been a constant struggle for me to get the excess weight I gained from the pregnancy off. Well, at least that's what I used to think...
Until now! Weight a minute...
Is it really this easy?!? Yes it is! (^.^)
Many of my friends are asking how am I doing it?
It really comes down to the strategy & committing to it! This experience reminds me of when I quit smoking cigarettes almost 5 years ago. It's hard for me to believe I ever smoked! I don't even miss it!
What's the secret? There is no secret!
Approach it the same way you would with any goal you want to accomplish in life!
*Be aware, pay attention, really want to achieve your goal, find inspiration, be disciplined, stay focused, be determined, have the will, motivate yourself, be proud and...
Believe and know that you CAN do it as long as you stick to it!
The first two weeks were certainly challenging! Changing old habits have been quite an adjustment!!! I'm finding as each day goes by, my new habits have now become a part of my daily routine & things seem to be getting easier as my weight is being lifted!
