MUSICAL CHAIRS & THE ATLANTA FALCONS by Denise Vasquez

I think I was like 6 years old when I began playing Musical Chairs, perhaps even younger...

I can recall many parties where games like "Musical Chairs" & "Simon Says" were part of the festivities...

So many times I wondered, "am I ever going to be able to put these games to any good use or is this all just for sheer pleasure"...

I had no problem participating in the games...

I always did my best and gave it my all...

I was very competitive at games growing up, still am...

I'm pretty much a good sport, that is until someone tries to cheat!

That really pinches a nerve!!!

But I never let them bring me down because like the old saying says

"Cheaters Never Win"!

It's funny how the universe works...

Sometimes life puts you in situations & you don't really understand why until later!

My boyfriend Randy Martinez and I went to Atlanta, GA for the first time to attend "Dragon Con" 2009 as invited guests. As this was our first trip ever to Atlanta, we decided to go a few days early. We wanted to have some time for ourselves to venture around and check out the local sites.

One day we decided to walk around...

We strolled through "Olympic Park", walked by the "Coca Cola" Factory, "The Aquarium", stopped for lunch at "Johnny Rockets" and then Randy mentioned how he wanted to see the "Georgia Dome", so we made our way there.

Upon arrival, we noticed there were tents set up, bars set up, merchandise trucks set up, so we assumed there was a game happening that evening...

We decided to go investigate...

We strolled around, enjoying the beautiful weather, the nice Southern hospitality all around us, and then we stumbled upon a long table where some of the cheerleaders from the "Atlanta Falcons" sat signing autographs...

Randy decided to go behind the girls, so of course I used my iphone to take some photos...

As we were taking photos we could hear a radio station broadcasting live from a tent nearby...They were saying "Who wants to win tickets to tonights game? If you want to win tickets, come to the tent to find out how you can win"...

Randy & I figured we were there, so lets go check it out...

And so we did!

We arrive at the tent & stand waiting to find out what we needed to do to win tickets...

As soon as we saw them pulling out chairs & setting them up, Randy
& I looked at eachother & said "Musical Chairs" with BIG smiles on our faces!

We were both totally down to play!

We had nothing else planned for the rest of the day, we were going with the flow, and we knew we would have a blast playing!

Earlier, as we were walking from lunch at "Johnny Rockets" to the Georgia Dome, Randy & I were having a discussion about sports, and I told him how I'd never been to a live football game & how I would love to attend one
someday!

So here we were, at the Georgia Dome, Opportunity at hand...all I could think was "how cool would it be if we won tickets to the game"!

Competition was tough, but I managed to stay in for a few rounds...

This one woman cheated & knocked me hard off of my chair even after I was already seated...

I felt there was no need to fight...

"Cheaters never win" I thought to myself

I just looked at her and smiled...

I knew she wasn't going to win...

Something inside of me told me Randy was going to win...not only because
of his size, but because of his good energy, focus & determination...

And then there were two...

It was down to Randy & another man...

Round & round they danced around the chairs to the music...

When the music stopped, Randy was in the chair...

It was obvious that Randy won...the other guy tried to pull the chair out from under Randy, but Randy wasn't having it...

That man was a Sore loser...

Some things about these games don't ever change!

Nevertheless, Randy did it, he won!!!

Who would've thought that Musical Chairs would win us tickets to a professional football game!

I was sooooo excited, I wanted to enter the stadium early...

We were amongst the first to arrive & that was totally cool with us!

We were both in awe...

The entire experience of being at the game was priceless...

The crowd, the fans, the excitement that filled the air, the kids that played football during half time, the cheerleaders, the giveaways, the jumbo screens, and of course "The Falcons"!

From start to finish we had such a great time!

It will be an experience I will always cherish!
